Our Mission

Mission: LRADAC creates and supports pathways for prevention and recovery from substance misuse for individuals, families and communities.

As an organization serving the Midlands for more than 40 years, LRADAC has developed a vast array of services surrounding substance use disorders.  Why are so many prevention and treatment services needed in the community?  Our answer to that is simply that the needs of every person, family, or community is unique and in order for us to best meet these needs, solutions must be tailored to fit the circumstances of those we serve.

The best way we can explain our work is using the metaphor of a pathway.  Each pathway to recovery for a person, family, or community struggling with alcohol or other drugs is unique and built with a series of services created by our clients and staff. For some individuals, detox and outpatient counseling meet their needs.  For others, inpatient treatment and residential care is best. Some families require assistance in getting their loved one to choose to seek treatment.  Other families may require counseling and support services throughout their loved one’s recovery.  Some communities may struggle with youth access to alcohol or tobacco while others need assistance with accessing resources.

No matter the need, LRADAC’s staff work together to tailor services and pathways to recovery to meet the needs of the unique circumstances presented.  We hope that if you, someone you love, your family, or a community in which you participate need our services, you will reach out to us!

LRADAC is the designated alcohol abuse and drug abuse authority for Lexington and Richland Counties of South Carolina. The public, not-for-profit agency offers a wide array of prevention, intervention and treatment programs in locations convenient to residents of both counties. The agency has a budget of approximately $10 million and serves more than 5,000 clients per year.
