Lexington One Community Coalition Hosts Summer Leadership Development Program

July 28, 2016

The Lexington One Community Coalition (LOCC), in partnership with LRADAC and Lexington School District One, hosted the second annual Summer Youth Leadership Development Program in July.  Students from middle schools and high schools in Lexington One met over the summer to learn about alcohol and drug use and how to influence other students to not use alcohol or drugs.  The students planned several media campaigns to implement in the schools throughout the upcoming year.  Planned campaigns include a LOCC membership drive, Red Ribbon Week, anti-smoking initiatives, and a drug facts week to name a few.

The two week program concluded with a presentation to school officials, including the district superintendent, sharing what they learned together and their plans to promote an alcohol and drug-free lifestyle among their peers.
