Columbia, SC – LRADAC is proud to announce the launch of its New Horizons Residential Treatment Program, a new 24/7 residential treatment option designed to provide adults with structured, compassionate care as they begin their recovery journey. Since a soft opening in late 2025, the program has already celebrated eight graduates, marking an important milestone for both the participants and the agency.

Located at LRADAC’s campus in Columbia, New Horizons offers a safe, home-like environment where adults ages 18 and older can stabilize, heal, and build a foundation for long-term recovery. The program provides around-the-clock medical and mental health supervision, individualized treatment planning, and evidence-based therapies, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and trauma-informed care. Residents also benefit from holistic supports, including mindfulness, yoga, expressive arts, and wellness activities, as well as seamless transition planning to outpatient services.

“We created New Horizons to meet a growing need in our community for residential treatment that treats the whole person,” said Anna House, Director of Residential Treatment at LRADAC. “Recovery is deeply personal, and this program allows us to walk alongside individuals during one of the most vulnerable and hopeful times of their lives, offering dignity, structure, and connection every step of the way.”

The average length of stay in the program is approximately 25 to 28 days and includes individual and group therapy, skill-building, and personalized aftercare planning. Referrals are accepted from individuals, family members, and providers, and LRADAC works closely with each resident to explore flexible care options regardless of insurance or financial circumstances.

Graduation from the New Horizons program is marked by a meaningful ceremony that reflects LRADAC’s commitment to compassion and celebration of recovery. As residents complete the program, they are honored by staff lining the hallway, singing and cheering as the graduate rings a bell to signify their achievement. Each graduate is also presented with a copy of Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go!”, a symbol of hope, possibility, and the next chapter ahead.

“These graduations are incredibly powerful moments,” said Reese Palmer, Vice President of Clinical Services at LRADAC. “They remind us why this work matters. Each person who completes residential treatment represents resilience, courage, and the promise of a healthier future, not just for themselves, but for their families and our community.”

The launch of New Horizons expands LRADAC’s continuum of care and strengthens its mission to improve lives and communities through prevention, intervention, treatment, and recovery support.
