LRADAC Foundation Announces Board Expansion and Welcomes New Members during Recovery Month

Columbia, SC – The LRADAC Foundation, the philanthropic arm of LRADAC, announces an expansion of its current board and welcomes seven new board members who will serve a three-year term. Over the course of its existence, the LRADAC Foundation has worked diligently to support families and individuals affected by substance misuse by offering recovery scholarships at LRADAC to those who may not be able to pay for treatment on their own. The LRADAC Foundation’s mission is to reduce substance misuse as a leading cause of family collapse and harm to children by raising support for families and programs at LRADAC.

The LRADAC Foundation’s newest board members include:

  • Taylor Brown, Development Associate at Transitions Homeless Shelter, advocate for substance misuse prevention and recovery, and advocate against sexual assault
  • John Brunty, Owner, CRAVE Artisan Market
  • Leigh Miller, Retired R.N and Healthcare Administration Professional from AnMed Healthcare System
  • Alison Calvert, Owner, Remnant Jewelry
  • Melissa Watson, Executive Director at Emerge SC
  • Mykel Keller, Paralegal at SC Department of Human Affairs
  • Ebonee Gadson, Government Grants and Contracts Specialist at Transitions Homeless Shelter

“We could not be more thrilled about the expansion of the LRADAC Foundation board and to announce our new members during Recovery Month,” said Kendra Mallett-Brunson, Executive Director of the LRADAC Foundation. “Each new member represents unique attributes that will expand our board’s capacity, talent pool and the mission of the LRADAC Foundation. Without a doubt, we have created the perfect team to help serve more patients on their road to recovery.”

The LRADAC Foundation board members are tasked with providing oversight and guidance to the foundation along with working in communities as advocates for recovery while raising funds for patients in care.  New board members will serve a three-year term that began August 1, 2020. LRADAC is the designated alcohol abuse and drug abuse authority for Lexington and Richland Counties of South Carolina. The public, not-for-profit agency offers a wide array of prevention, intervention and treatment programs in locations convenient to residents of both counties. The agency has a budget of approximately $10 million and serves more than 5,000 clients per year.
