Open to Addictions Counselors, Rehabilitation Counselors, Supervisors working in Treatment settings, Social Workers, and Other Health Care or Treatment Providers.
Objectives:
Develop a basic understanding of co-occurring disorders, specifically substance use disorders and mental health disorders.
To recognize signs and symptoms of common mental health disorders seen in the substance-using population.
To recognize the overlapping effect of substance use, mental health symptoms/disorders, and recommended treatment for the co-occurring populations (to include both adolescents, adults and individuals with a history of trauma).
To be introduced to effective treatment strategies for co-occurring populations and appropriate continuum of care.
