Women have unique needs that are addressed in our gender-specific programming. Their societal roles and associated stigma often result in increased feelings of guilt, powerlessness and trauma. Our programs use strategies to help women acknowledge, address, overcome and become empowered to leave behind negativity, enabling them to sustain long-term lifestyle changes. Our programs follow a Recovery Oriented Systems of Care, which links women with services that support recovery. Pregnant women are given priority status for treatment services.
Our services range from:
The Women's Motivational Enhancement Therapy Program (WMET) is a treatment program designed to assist women in increasing motivation for treatment and overcoming the early roadblocks to recovery. Women frequently enter treatment due to external factors and struggle to find personal reason or incentive for participation in treatment that may have been forced upon them. LRADAC's goal is not to force change but instead to join women in deciding what their goals are and how they may best go about achieving them.
The Women's Intensive Outpatient Program (WIOP) is designed to assist women in developing coping skills necessary to stop abusing alcohol and other drugs, and to sustain positive lifestyle changes longer-term. WIOP is a group-based therapy program supplemented by individual counseling as needed. Women have the opportunity to learn how addiction affects them personally (emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually) as well as others in their lives. Women learn skills for managing difficult feelings and improving their decision-making abilities. This treatment program also includes a trauma recovery and empowerment component to aid women in breaking cycles of damaging relationships.
Women's Continuing Care groups allow a step down in the therapy process following engagement in more intensive levels of treatment. The groups provide a setting of on-going, supportive aftercare for the women as they continue to build upon and reinforce the relapse prevention skills learned during their treatment process, and encourage their efforts as they continue to strive towards recovery oriented lifestyles.
The parenting program is designed to aid women build healthier families. Women explore what it means to be a parent and how intergenerational patterns affect them and their children. Women develop the skills to better recognize the needs of their children, recognize and understand their own feelings, how to use positive discipline to reinforce desired behaviors in children, and how to use structure and family rules to enhance stability and consistency.
