Merchant Education

Palmetto Retailers Education Program (PREP) is a program that helps reduce underage access to alcohol and tobacco in our community while also lowering liability risks for businesses and their employees. The goal of PREP is to provide education programs that (1) help managers and servers/sellers understand state, community and establishment-level alcohol and tobacco policies and potential consequences for failing to comply with such policies, and 2) provide the necessary skills to comply with these policies.

The two-hour and a half session covers many relevant issues, including:

• Alcohol and tobacco laws and consequences
• Checking IDs
• Recognizing and dealing with fake IDs
• Handling difficult situations
• Cutting off service
• Reducing liability of employees and businesses

PREP is approved by the Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services and the Department of Revenue as an authorized merchant education program.  For more information, please visit www.prepmerchanted.net.
