LRADAC News & Events » LRADAC Announces New Program for Offenders Post-Incarceration
LRADAC is launching a new community-based program aimed at reducing repeated criminal behavior among offenders post-incarceration. Empowerment Central, a six month education and case management program, is specially tailored for individuals referred by Federal and State Probation, Parole, and Pardon Services, the South Carolina Department of Corrections, local jails, or other offender services organizations.
This program was developed by an inter-disciplinary team of providers. With cooperation from these community partners, Empowerment Central will help clients reduce substance use, seek opportunities for education and employment, find stable housing, and coordinate needed resources such as medical and transportation needs. Leslie Wilson, Vice President for Intervention and Treatment at LRADAC, stated, “What we hear from individuals who have recently been in prison is that in order to not reoffend, they need employment, housing, and hope. That is this program’s purpose.”
