LRADAC offers individual drug screens at a minimum cost. Please visit the drug screen page to learn more information about our drug screen service. However, a drug screen alone may not address the issues the child is facing. A positive drug screen and an upset parent solve no problems. A positive drug screen followed by an assessment, conducted by a qualified provider to determine the child's individual needs is the best way to start an adolescent on the track back to success and improved family functioning.

In order to have your driver's license reinstated by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), you must successfully complete a certified Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP).
Once enrolled, you will be assessed to determine the problem areas that contributed to your DUI. Goals will be developed to address these problem areas. Education and/or treatment services will be provided to help you reduce your risk of committing another DUI violation. Successful completion of the program is based on whether you have demonstrated a reduced risk for a future DUI.

Treatment costs vary depending on whether the individual is admitted to an inpatient residential program versus an outpatient program. Costs are also dependant on whether a program is public or private, although most treatment programs accept insurance, Medicaid or Medicare. Many programs offer sliding fee or payment plans for clients and are committed to removing costs as a barrier to treatment. More information on Treatment Costs & Financial responsibilities.

When choosing a quality substance-abuse treatment program, there are several things to take into consideration. The first of these is a staff consisting of prevention, intervention and treatment professionals who are certified and/or licensed, with requirements for continuing education credits, and who demonstrate cultural competency.
A quality program should be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and be licensed by the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SC DHEC). Successful programs use best-practice and evidence-based approaches and programming and offer follow-up services.

Addiction is a disease that affects every member of the family. Recovery from addiction is an adjustment for everyone, as different people react to change in different ways. Families with addiction issues usually have high levels of stress and confusion and will need to learn new ways of relating to each other.
By participating in treatment, you can show support for your loved one. However, his or her sobriety or abstinence does not depend on you, and you did not cause your family member's substance use disorder.

No loving relationship can exist without communication. Teens believe they have valuable things to say and, when a parent listens genuinely, it helps self-esteem and confidence. The most important thing to remember when it comes to talking about difficult subjects like drinking and drugs is that it's not a five-minute "talk" — it's about building an ongoing dialogue. As your children grow up, they will need more and more information, so start early and build on the conversation as your teen matures.
