Funding

LRADAC is funded primarily by the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services. The balance comes from local government, grants, donations, Medicaid and other fees and reimbursements. In addition, funds generated by the excise tax on alcoholic liquors for on-premises consumption are passed through county councils to local alcohol and drug abuse commissions like LRADAC on a per capita basis.

In 1999, LRADAC established an Endowment Fund to provide increased financial stability for the agency's programs and services. Financial stability allows us to concentrate on providing the best treatment and intervention services to our clients as well as cutting-edge prevention programs to the community. Annual income from undesignated gifts to the fund will provide seed grants for prevention and education programming, staff development and enhancement of LRADAC's programs and services.

The LRADAC Endowment Fund is a permanent investment portfolio managed by the Central Carolina Community Foundation. The fund provides financial support for LRADAC's alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention, intervention and treatment programs in perpetuity. Tax-deductible donations to the Fund are never spent; they provide an investment income that will be used to provide seed grants for prevention and education programming, staff development and enhancement of LRADAC programs and services. A healthy endowment protects the long-term stability of LRADAC and provides a predictable stream of income over time. In addition, it will help reduce dependence on foundation and government funding.

Donors will be recognized in LRADAC newsletters and Central Carolina Community Foundation publications. All gifts are tax-deductible. There are many ways in which the community can help build the Endowment Fund:
