The Double Jeopardy HIV/STD Prevention Program assists recovering adolescent substance abusers in reducing the behaviors that put them at high risk for HIV/STD infection.
Our adolescent STDs/HIV/AIDS prevention program uses a modified version of the evidence-based BART program (Becoming A Responsible Teen) that delivers the important message that adolescents have the ability to make good choices about their health and that their success requires persistence. The program emphasizes providing accurate information, skills building to use the information for actions, opportunities to practice new skills and receive corrective feedback, and, social support to normalize the desired behavior. It is important to note that males and females are taught separately.
